About Us
How We Began
“When it was time for my daughters to start on solid foods, I was disappointed with what I found on sale”.
As a dietician, Rozi Andrew wasn’t happy that many baby food products had added sugars and salts, and various additives. She was also certain that baby food could taste a whole lot better.
Experimenting with making her own baby food, Rozi eventually found the elusive balance between nutritionally-balanced meals and great taste. Her daughters were big fans and word soon spread to family and friends.
Realising there was a business opportunity, Rozi approached her employer at the time – Woolworths – who affirmed their enthusiastic interest. And so, The Baby Food Company was born.
Since then, The Baby Food Company has expanded its offering to include vegetable, & fruit pulps, coulis & compotes, and caramels, sweet sauces and curds.

Our Passionate Staff
We’re especially proud of the fact that many of our staff have been with us from the very beginning.
Our Factory
Since we rebuilt an empty warehouse into a high-tech food manufacturing facility in 2005, our premises in Ottery, Cape Town have grown and grown.
Today our factory measures 1700 m² under roof, with dedicated preparation, production, cold storage and warehousing facilities. Our staff enjoy a large, light-filled canteen and rest area.
Our factory is both water and electricity independent, and is thus not affected by related outages.
We have HACCP certification and are compliant with the Woolworths Code of Practice.
The factory has Halaal certification and we’re able to make Kosher products on demand.
